Throwback when we stayed at Golden Sands Resort in Penang!

The hotel has since been rebranded as Rasa Sayang Resort and spa so I am not sure if the facilities  have changed.

Overlooking Batu Feringgi Beach, Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, Penang offers spacious rooms surrounded by 30 acres of tropical gardens. It features two outdoor swimming pools in the Garden Wing and one adult pool in the Rasa Wing.

Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa has a 9-hole golf course and an Eco Center. Guests can workout at the well-equipped gym or enjoy massages and treatments like aromatherapy at CHI, The Spa. The swimming pools and yoga pavilion are other good relaxation options.

Children love it there and didn’t even want to go to town when grandpa and grandma wanted to go!

👉 The Hotel offers free shuttle services to its sister hotel, Jen Hotel in the UNESCO heritage city of George Town.

Things at Golden Sands Resort which could have been better.

😬 there are many flies when we dined at the in-house restaurant at the resort. However, being near the beach, I guess it is difficult for them. Maybe they can get Freshway, there are venues using it and it is pretty effective in reducing the number. (I know I should be paid but nope…)

😬 it’s a little far from George Town which I feel, give Penang it’s unique colours and architecture.

😬 there are many boutique hotels housed in old shophouses which may have an edge over these modern hotels.

If you like beaches and the slower pace life, then Shangri-la Raya Sayang Resort and Spa is definitely choice for you.
