Batu caves

Batu caves is a sight to behold

Batu Cave, one of Malaysia’s most frequented tourist attractions, is a limestone hill comprising three major caves and a number of smaller ones. Just about 30min from Kuala Lumpur, this 100-year-old temple features idols and statues erected inside the main caves and around it. The limestone formations are said to be around 400 million years old, so definitely worth a look.

👉 don’t feed your kids when you are there because the monkey will snatch the food! Even colourful items may be mistaken for food by these macaque.

👉 go in the morning when it is less crowded and not-so-hot. Malaysia is humid country so sweating can be uncomfortable especially if you are from a country with 4 seasons.

👉 bring lots of water.

👉 bring mosquito repellent.

👉 take it easy with kids. There are 272 steps with no lift; not an easy feat for young children. Great to challenge older kids to see if they can reach there first!
